Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Playlane is a video player for iPhone and Apple CarPlay, made by Ahmed Mongy, an independent developer in Egypt ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking, and your playlists stay on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Your sources (playlist links and Xtream logins), channel lists, favorites, watch history, settings and imported videos are stored only on your device. Xtream passwords are kept in the iOS Keychain. We never receive any of this. When you delete the app, it is deleted.
Playlane connects directly to the servers listed in your playlists. Those servers are run by your provider, not by us, and their own privacy terms apply.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, it can send a crash report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), our error-reporting service. A report contains the app version, device model, iOS version and technical details of the error. Reports never include your passwords, playlist links or channel names. You can turn crash reports off at any time in Settings, under "Send crash reports". Sentry deletes reports automatically after its retention period of at most 90 days.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. To check whether you have Playlane Pro, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which receives a random app user ID and your App Store purchase receipts. This ID is not linked to your name or email.
App settings from our server
The app downloads a small settings file from playlane.app and from RevenueCat, for example to switch a feature off if it breaks. This request sends no personal data.
Permissions
- Camera: only to scan a playlist QR code. Images are not stored or sent.
- Photos: only to import the videos you choose.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only while you search by voice. Speech is converted to text by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- Local network: only if a playlist you add points to a server on your own home network.
What we don't do
We don't use analytics or advertising tools, don't track you across apps or websites, and don't sell or share your data.
Children
Playlane is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Because we hold no account or profile, almost everything is under your control on your device. You can ask us about, or ask us to delete, any crash report linked to your device by writing to support@playlane.app. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK or Egypt, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date above. Important changes are also announced in the app.
